Watch Workers Terrifying Encounter with Massive Snakes that
Waking up to an animal in your home is one thing, but have you ever had a snake in the ceiling drop on your head?

Imagine you hear a strange noise coming from your ceiling. You grab a flashlight and a ladder and climb up to investigate. You poke a hole in the drywall and see something moving inside. You reach in and pull out a huge snake that coils around your arm! As scary as that sounds, that’s EXACTLY what happened on a TikTok video that was recorded only a month ago.

The video, posted by user @baju_soda, shows a man calmly removing a large boa or python from his ceiling. Like some type of superhero, he doesn’t seem scared or surprised by the snake that he ends up grabbing with some type of noose. As he reaches up to grab the snake out, however, the unthinkable happens… THE SNAKE BURSTS THROUGH THE CEILING. Like something out of a horror movie, a huge snake bursts through the drywall and falls down. It isn’t clear, but it looks like the snake could have been between 10-20 feet long, at least. If you weren’t having nightmares involving snakes before, the video at the bottom of the page might just change that!

“And this is how I abandon my house and become homeless. The snakes can enjoy the house now.”

TikTok Commenter

Some commenters wondered how the snake got into the ceiling in the first place (a valid question), while others praised the people standing around while a behemoth of a creature fell from the ceiling. Some even joked that they would move out of the house or burn it down if they found a snake in their house. Thankfully, the video seems to show that the workers are able to grab the snake by the tail and remove it from the building, although it doesn’t go without a struggle. At one point, it even wraps around a large wooden bench and pulls the entire thing out with it as they try and remove it!

Judging from the clues in the video, we can guess that the entire thing happened in Malaysia. The workers are wearing uniforms that read “Pertahanan Awam,” which is part of the acronym used for the Malaysian Civil Service.

There are two large species of snake that are python-like in appearance that lives in Malaysia, the reticulated python and the Burmese python. Since reticulated pythons are usually more yellow across their scales and have a slightly different pattern, we can guess that the snake we are seeing is a Burmese python.

Quick Facts About Burmese Pythons:
  • They are one of the largest snakes in the world, reaching up to 23 feet (7 meters) or more in length and weighing up to 200 pounds (90 kilograms) with a girth as big as a telephone pole.
  • They have beautifully patterned skin, with brown blotches bordered by black down the length of their bodies. Albino Burmese pythons are popular in the pet trade because of their attractive color morphs.
  • They are excellent swimmers and can stay submerged for up to 30 minutes. They also spend some time in the trees when they are young, but become mostly terrestrial as they grow larger.
  • They are ambush predators that use constriction to kill their prey. They eat mostly small mammals and birds, but can also prey on larger animals such as pigs, goats, and even alligators.
  • They are native to Southeast Asia, but have become invasive in the Florida Everglades due to pet owners releasing them into the wild when they get too big to manage.
