Stan Walker reveals secret wedding to Lou Tyson | Stuff.co.nz
Stan Walker has revealed he and Lou Tyson married in secret, with a small backyard ceremony for close friends and family only.
They married in August, less than a year since becoming engaged.
Their ceremony was a small, family function. Both of their parents were there, with some close friends and family.
But many friends and family were unable to attend. The wedding went ahead with travel from Australia difficult, which is where a lot of Walker’s family, including his siblings, live.

The couple revealed their marriage through a music video posted on Friday morning.
Tyson’s son, Te Puuwairua, walked her down the aisle and played a major part on the day.
Tyson stuck with the traditional white for her dress, while Walker opted for an earthy palette. He wore a loose-fitting brown shirt, with a low cut to show off a chest tattoo and whale bone taonga. To match, he had burnt orange trousers.
She wore a modern white dress and long white roimata earrings, with a trailing, slim veil.
The couple became engaged in December last year. They haven't spoken much about the proposal, but Tyson told Stuff it was a bit hectic.
“The way it happened, it was very us. Very unorthodox.”
“I think we did it all back to front,” she said.
They first started dating in 2013, but it had been on and off.
They broke up four years later, but were back together sometime last year.
The couple moved in to a new home together last year, in Whanganui. Walker joked that was a major step towards being a proper adult for him, but Tyson disagreed – “Yeah, she’s the mature, grounded one,” he added.
Friends have said they couple seemed “destined” to be together.
Since they moved in together, Walker’s social media has been filled with photos of Tyson and Te Puuwairua, who he affectionately calls “boy”.
The wedding news came as Walker prepared to release a new album in te reo Māori. He first broke onto the music scene through Australian Idol in 2009, but had since moved to New Zealand and released five full albums.
Tyson worked for Whanganui’s economic development agency, and has also starred on Māori Television as a presenter and worked as a model.
