NRL: Sydney Roosters prop Spencer Leniu prepares to front ...

Sydney Roosters prop Spencer Leniu has landed in Sydney where he'll prepare to face the judiciary over allegations of a racial slur.  

An upset Ezra Mam is adamant he was called a "monkey" during the Las Vegas showcase.   

But NRL bosses say Leniu deserves the right to a fair hearing.    

Turns out what happens in Vegas won't stay in Vegas, especially for Leniu.  

"I'm not allowed to comment on that right now," the 23-year-old said on his arrival.  

The voice of Mam was picked up on match audio, and made the shocking allegation during the NRL's American showcase.    

"It's unfortunate we are having a conversation about this," said NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo. "But we will deal with it, and we will deal with this appropriately."   

Overshadowing the game's success, it's not the headline NRL bosses hoped to arrive home to. 

"These things happen, but it doesn't take the gloss off the game," said Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'landys. 

It doesn't help that both teams flew home on the same plane, with tensions high between rival players.   

"They support their peers and mates when they're under pressure," said Broncos coach Kevin Walters. "When they've had an incident happen, that's just not tolerable."  

However, it's an allegation at this point. A judicial panel will decide any punishment if it's proven.     

"He's got to be given due process yet, and natural justice," added V'landys. "But [there's] zero tolerance on racism."   

However, some words directed towards Ezra have been welcomed.  

"I just want to say thank you for the support for everyone that's reached out," he said on his return.
