There's no doubt about it, this is a big game in the battle at the bottom. Brendan Rodgers has said City need five or six more wins to ensure their survival, and a trip to St Mary's provides an excellent opportunity to get one.

Southampton are bottom of the table and have the worst home record in the division. They perhaps suffered an even more embarrassing FA Cup exit in midweek, losing to League Two side Grimsby, a day after City were eliminated by Championship outfit Blackburn.

But if City lose, they could end the weekend only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference. Then the pressure will really be on Brendan Rodgers and his players.
