2023 PGA Championship leaderboard: Live coverage, golf scores ...
The 2023 PGA Championship continues in earnest Friday as the first round wraps with Round 2 kicking into gear simultaneously first thing in the morning. While numerous former major champions have their eyes on the Wanamaker Trophy, it is Bryson DeChambeau who sat in the driver's seat with the clubhouse lead after the first day of action concluded.
Signing for a 4-under 66 on Thursday, the 2020 U.S. Open winner leaned on a vintage performance with the big stick. While his presence on the leaderboard is known, it is the name just below his that may strike the most fear into competitors. World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler went around Oak Hill in a bogey-free fashion to sit at 3 under and just one off DeChambeau's pace. Viktor Hovland is a factor for the third straight major championship with a 2-under 68.
Masters champions Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott find themselves within shouting distance of the lead and will aim to position themselves for a weekend run early Friday. Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas will teeter between contention and cut line while Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jordan Spieth and Shane Lowry will just hope to be around for the weekend as the conditions toughen at Oak Hill Country Club.
