Max Verstappen Ties Senna in Career Victories
The Formula One Canadian Grand Prix saw Max Verstappen tie the legendary Ayrton Senna with his 41st career victory. Verstappen's win in Montreal was his third of the season, putting him in second place in the world championship standings behind Lewis Hamilton.
The Dutchman's victory was not without controversy, however, as he was penalized five seconds for an unsafe release from the pits. Despite this setback, Verstappen managed to hold off a charging Hamilton in the closing stages of the race to take the win.
The Battle for the Championship
With his win in Canada, Verstappen has firmly established himself as Hamilton's main challenger for the 2021 championship. The two drivers are separated by only 12 points in the standings, with Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez a further 47 points behind in third place.
As the F1 season heads to Europe for the next round of races, all eyes will be on Verstappen and Hamilton to see who will come out on top in this thrilling battle for the championship.
