A real-life Elf on the Shelf has been spotted around a North Carolina town.

TROUTMAN, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - A real-life Elf on the Shelf has been spotted around a town in North Carolina.

Dale the elf has been busy this holiday season, visiting places around Troutman, North Carolina.

Dale, who works with the Parks and Recreation Department, said when his boss came to him with the idea, he did not hesitate to become the town’s first elf.

He said he has been enjoying seeing people young and old light up when they see one of Santa’s helpers keeping an eye on the town.

“Oh, they loved it,” Dale said. “They’re honking and whooting and screaming. I think the adults like it more than the kids do actually.”

Dale is already planning for next year’s holiday season.
