> Hard to miss that talent! >> You wish you could sing? >> I wish I could sing. How good is that? >> Dove Cameron's new single "It's so good" and everybody's eating it up! >> And Jane Seymour. What do you do to your skin? You're glowing and I will buy whatever you're selling. >> This is going to be the worst but I have looked absolutely awful with loads of makeup on or really good with no makeup on and it all depends on like water and sleep. I know that sucks to hear. >> You're j.loing it. >> J.lo. >> It's working. Lots of moisture I think. >> Lots of moisture. >> And the music for you, has this always been your number one passion deep inside of you? >> You know what, I think I've always been really passionate about everything in the industry, like film, television, music, live performing. But music was always something that for me was like if I was lonely or if I didn't have any friends or I didn't know how I felt, music helps me as a medium to kind of understand myself and where I was in my life. So to be able to create it was very special to me. >> Could you see your life with just music, maybe no acting? >> No, never. >> So they're all connected? >> Definitely all connected. Which I feel lucky to have so far in my life, they kind of hold hands. They very much overlap for me in my career. But this feels like a totally new thing, like being able to create and write moin music. More creative than I have ever been able to be. >> And seeing yourself from the past, this is important to you, carve your space to who you are today, not taking anything away from that, but stand where you are now. >> Definitely, that's a beautiful way of putting it. I think I never had that feeling of -- I know this is the thing, when you leave Disney, you're meant to like turn the page in some big, dramatic way. And I never like had that impulse. If anything, I just felt sort of an emotional page turn with like now I'm not doing this. What is it I want to say that is really me? It's almost like when you leave your parents' house to go to college, like I didn't really realize how much of what I was doing was being affected by me environment. But now that I'm not in it, who am I? What will I do with this new found voice. >> I'm about to do it. Need your help, dove. When you do your writing, when the songs come to you, do you have a process? >> In the start of it it was like we have writing sessions set up. You need to he sit down with writers. But now that you get it started, you could be walking around anywhere and more so than lyrics -- I do sometimes get lyrics, but I will get like concepts or little phrases or things stuck in I my head that I will need to expand upon later. >> Very cool. >> It could happen any time. >> Do you take notes on your phone? >> I do but I try to take notes on my physical journal. >> Yeah, it makes a difference. >> You guys are so artsy. >> We have this little game. We know that you love your Disney character. We know you love also some other -- would you say icons of music. >> Yes, your first album was -- >> Oh, Elvis. >> Here we go. We want you to sing "Twinkle twinkle little star" but in the voice of Elvis. >> Oh, okay. >> We don't want to put you on the spot, dove. But here we go. >> Are you going to sing it with me? >> Totally. >> Okay. You go first. ♪ Twinkle twinkle little star ♪ no, that's like Cher! >> I don't know but that was good. How about this? "Ba ba black sheep" as aerial the princess ♪ ba ba black sheep have you any wool ♪ ♪ yes, yes, sir, three bags full ♪ >> Oh, that was really good! >> I'll take it. >> They say they might turn "Wicked" into a movie. Would you be interested? >> Little Gwenda? >> That's been a dream role of my since I was 7 years old. Kristin Chenoweth has been my idol. So even being considered is driem come true. We will see if the movie happens. I feel like it's been happening for like ten years. But I think I can play college for another six or seven. And my fingers are crossed. >> We go out one last one, "Take me out to the ball game" but opera style. >> You're making it hard. >> You all have to sing with me. >> Okay. ♪ Take me out to the ball game ♪ ♪ take me out to the crowd ♪
" data-livestream="false" data-title="Dove Cameron Describes Her Transition From Disney Channel" data-vidcid="1:1:3933171" data-vidurl="https://ots.nbcwpshield.com/uncategorized/dove-cameron-describes-her-transition-from-disney-channel_new-york-2/3933171/" data-islead="true" data-catnames="{"225":"Entertainment","226":"Entertainment News","189":"News","12732":"Local"}" data-tagnames="{"278101":"Dove Cameron","6341":"LGBTQ"}" data-customdata=
" data-autoplay="true" data-cplay="true">

Dove Cameron is finally comfortable living her truth.

In a new interview with Gay Times, the former Disney Channel star shared that she was worried people wouldn't believe her if she came out as queer. However, upon facing a situation in which she was accused of "queerbaiting," she decided it was time to publicly acknowledge her sexuality. The TV star, who recently appeared in a since-scrapped live action pilot of "The Powerpuff Girls," opened up about her sexuality on an Instagram Live last year.

"I've hinted about my sexuality for years while being afraid to spell it out for everybody," she said. "I did a lyric video last year, for 'We Belong.' It had moving line drawings of people falling in love...It was all a man and a woman making out and it was a weird moment for me."

She said she asked the producers to add in couples of different orientations.

"When the song came out, everybody got the idea that the song was a big LGBTQ+ anthem song and I found myself in this position where everyone thought I was queerbaiting," the "Liv and Maddie" star, 25, told Gay Times. "I went on Instagram Live and said 'Guys, I really needed to explain something to you. Maybe I haven't said it, but I'm super queer. This is something I want to represent through my music because it's who I am.'"

Dove Cameron & Thomas Doherty's Cutest Pictures

Cameron, who previously dated the "Gossip Girl" reboot star Thomas Doherty as well as her "Liv and Maddie" co-star Ryan McCartan, added that while she isn't a "label person," queer is the term that works for her.

"With the process of coming out, it was about who I am as a whole rather than who I choose to date or sleep with," she said. "I'm choosing to love myself, to be who I am every day and not edit myself depending on the room that I'm in."
