Covid-19: Auckland hotel and cinema among new locations of interest

Seven high-risk locations of interest have been announced today across Auckland and Motueka, and two have been recategorised.

Seven high-risk locations of interest have been announced today across Auckland and Motueka.

Shivani Restaurant Papatoetoe on January 16, a private event at Pukekohe Indian Hall on the same date, and Auckland Rose Park Hotel Parnell on January 14–16 are the latest high-risk locations of interest released by the Ministry of Health.

These locations were visited by a positive Omicron case. People who were there at the same time are considered close contacts, and should self-isolate, test immediately, and again 5 days later. People should record their visit online or call Healthline so contact tracers can get in touch.

Two locations have been recategorised; Chartwell Bakery Manukau, between 9.55am and 10am on January 20, is no longer a high-risk location. People should self-monitor for symptoms, but there’s no need to isolate unless they feel unwell.

Thirsty Liquor Papakura, which was previously thought to have been visited by a confirmed case between 6pm and 6.15pm, has also been recategorised. People are not considered close contacts, but should self-monitor for symptoms for 10 days.

Event Cinemas at Westfield mall in Albany has been identified as a location of interest between 2.30pm and 5.10pm on Friday, January 21.

Nelson Airport's terminal building was visited by a suspected Omicron case between 3.35pm and 4pm on Sunday, January 16.

Also included are Rotorua’s Countdown Central Mall on Wednesday, January 19 between 6pm and 6.30pm, and Kiwibank on Tutanekai St on Monday, January 17 between 3pm and 3.30pm.

The Countdown supermarket on High St in Motueka is also linked to a suspected Omicron case and was visited last Tuesday between 7pm and 8pm.

People who visited any of these places at the mentioned times should self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms for 10 days after exposure.

Greenwood Health Motueka was linked to a suspected Omicron case, with the person visiting on Friday from 11.40am-1.45pm. The medical centre has been deemed high risk and those at the centre at that time should self-isolate and get tested immediately.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a nationwide move to the red Covid traffic light setting from midnight on Sunday.

Tarka Indian Eatery in Mission Bay has been deemed a close contact location after a person with Omicron visited on January 14, from 4pm-5pm.

Rainbow’s End in Manukau is also deemed a location of interest after being visited by a person with Omicron on January 16, from 1pm-3.30pm. However, it was not listed as a close contact venue.

The Sand Dunz Cafe Muriwai in Waimauku is also linked to an Omicron case, having been visited on January 18 from 3pm-3.30pm.

Those who have visited either location were asked to self-monitor for symptoms for 10 days after being exposed, and if symptoms developed, to get tested and stay at home until returning a negative test result.

Shuttle Bus Transfer from Auckland Domestic Airport to Park & Ride on Wednesday from 1pm-1.10pm and Thursday from 3pm-3.10pm are both exposure events linked to an Omicron case, but not deemed high risk.

Bus 120 (Stop 5564) Don Buck Rd to Constellation Station in Auckland on Thursday between 6.30am-7.30am is also a location of interest.

The Queenstown Top 10 Holiday Park Arthurs Point, previously been named as a low-risk location of interest, was listed as a close contact location after being visited on January 11 from 12am until 9.45pm.

However, it was removed from the Ministry of Health's list of locations by 12pm on Monday.

The TWS Paradise Valley Speedway in Rotorua was added as a location of interest after being visited on Friday, January 21, between 7.30pm-9.30pm.

New Zealand has now moved into the red traffic light setting in the Covid-19 protection framework.

This list can be viewed in two ways: Date of visit (locations added today have the word NEW beside them) or, if you switch the toggle to Date included, newly added locations appear at the top of the list.

If you were at a location of interest at one of the specified times, you may need to self-isolate and be tested. Follow the instructions for that location on theMinistry of Health website and call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice on testing.

This list is automatically updated as soon as locations of interest appear on the Ministry of Health website.
