The Full Schedule of Events for Coronation Weekend

The coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla is finally here. If you're up bright and early to tune in from the United States, here's when you can expect everything to happen.

The big coronation day! Here's around what time things will take place:
6 a.m. local / 1 a.m. eastern: Along the procession route, coronation viewing areas will open.
7:15 a.m. local / 2:15 a.m. eastern: Guests will begin arriving to Westminster Abbey.
9 a.m. local / 4 a.m. eastern: Much of the congregation will be seated inside the Abbey.
9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. local / 4:30 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. eastern: More prominent guests, including members of the royal family, foreign heads of state, and UK leaders, will arrive at the Abbey. (Here's a full guest list of who is attending the coronation, if you're curious.)
9:45 a.m. local / 4:45 a.m. eastern: The Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry will assemble at Buckingham Palace.
10 a.m. local / 5 a.m. eastern: Live U.S. television coverage begins. (More on how to watch the coronation here.)
10:20 a.m. local / 5:20 a.m. eastern: King Charles and Queen Camilla will leave Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and travel to Westminster Abbey.
11 a.m. local / 6 a.m. eastern: The coronation service will take place.
1 p.m. local / 8 a.m. eastern: The coronation service will have concluded, and the procession back to the Palace is expected to begin, with other members of the royal family.
1:45 p.m. local / 8:45 a.m. eastern: King Charles and Queen Camilla will appear on the West Terrace of Buckingham Palace's garden to receive the Royal Salute.
2:15 p.m. local / 9:15 a.m. eastern: The royal family will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a fly-past. We can expect to see King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, along with Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

Midday: Coronation Big Lunches will take place. Per Buckingham Palace, the Coronation Big Lunch is where "neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together." They have shared a recipe for a Coronation Quiche.
7 p.m. local / 2 p.m. eastern: The Coronation Concert will occur at Windsor Castle.Performers include Take That, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Andrea Bocelli, and along with King Charles and Queen Camilla, many members of the royal family will be in attendance.
Per the Palace, "Attended by a public audience including volunteers from The King and The Queen Consort’s many charity affiliations, the concert will see a world-class orchestra play interpretations of musical favourites fronted by some of the world’s biggest entertainers, alongside performers from the world of dance. The performances will be supported by staging and effects located on the Castle’s East Lawn and will also feature a selection of spoken word sequences delivered by stars of stage and screen."
Monday, May 8, 2023All day: This Monday is a bank holiday in the UK, and the royals are calling it a "Big Help Out" day, emphasizing public service, volunteering, and giving back.
According to the Palace, "The Big Help Out will highlight the positive impact volunteering has on communities across the nation. In tribute to His Majesty The King's public service, The Big Help Out will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas. The aim of The Big Help Out is to use volunteering to bring communities together and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend."
