Vision reveals Marsh's classy pre-game gesture after Test dumping

Mitchell Marsh have shown once again that he is all class with a wonderful gesture on the first morning of the SCG Test.

Marsh was dropped from the Australian XI for the fifth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in favour of prolific Sheffield Shield all-rounder Beau Webster, but he showed that he held no hard feelings at the Tasmanian’s cap presentation.

Marsh, who comes from an illustrious cricketing family with brother Shaun and father Geoff also representing Australia, went out of his way to congratulate each member of Webster’s family who joined the Australian squad on the SCG outfield where Mark Waugh presented Webster with his Baggy Green.

The West Australian, of course, also gave Webster a big hug and wished him all the best before taking the field on day one.

Pat Cummins announced on Thursday that Marsh, who is the reigning Allan Border Medallist and captained Australia at last year’s T20 World Cup, would make way and said he took his axing with grace.

“He (was) totally understanding,” Cummins said at the press conference.

“He knows he hasn’t scored the runs or wickets that he would have liked, so that makes you vulnerable.

“(He’s) really excited for Beau. The first thing he said was, ‘I can’t wait for Beau to go out there and give it a crack.’”

Marsh is widely-regarded as an ultimate team man and his classy behaviour on Friday morning was yet another example of why he is a much-loved member of the Australian squad.
