Stosur’s last dance leads 10-strong Aussie charge after big first day of upsets: Aus Open LIVE

Sam Stosur will potentially play the last singles match of her career, while nine fellow Australians will look to progress to the second round on day two of the Australian Open.
Stosur, 37, has announced her singles career will finish at her home slam, with the former world No.4 taking on unseeded American Robin Anderson.
The Australian stunned the tennis world in 2011 when she defeated Serena Williams to claim the US Open title, and has been dubbed by world number one Ash Barty as trailblazer for the current generation of Australian tennis players.

“She’s an Australian champion and has set the tone for us Aussies as tennis players for years and years,” Barty said, while adding she’d be “glued” to the match.
“For her to have an opportunity to go out on her terms is incredibly exciting.”

Stosur’s campaign for a second-round berth will come at the same time compatriot Daria Saville plays her first grand slam tournament since last year’s Australian Open, with the former top 20 player returning from a long injury layoff.
Saville (nee Gavrilova) will face Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson.
Elsewhere, Maddison Inglis will take on US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, while crowd favourites Jordan Thompson and Alexei Popyrin will also be in action.

The Aussie flavour will continue well into the night, with Alex de Minaur, Storm Sanders and Nick Kyrgios all listed for evening matches.
De Minaur will be favoured against Italian young gun Lorenzo Musetti while Nick Kyrgios looks to book a potential date with Daniil Medvedev when he duels with Briton Liam Broady.
Sanders has an imposing test on Rod Laver Arena, facing world No.2 Aryna Sabalenka, though Sabalenka completely forgot how to serve in her most recent match.
