Mech building is a core mechanic in Armored Core 6, and players will need to be as flexible as they can when it comes to their loadouts if they want to beat the game's toughest challenges. However, before fans can make their light skirmishers or flying spider tanks, they'll need to unlock the right parts for them first.

Unlocking parts has always been a staple of the series, and it's no different in Armored Core 6. Gigantic weapons and chassis aren't easy to come by, however, so players will have to get in their robots and work hard to unlock the parts they want to use.

How to Get More Parts

There are several ways to unlock mech parts; the first and most obvious one is to complete missions. As players progress through the Armored Core 6 campaign, they'll gradually unlock more aftermarket guns, body types, and internals for their mechs. More advanced parts will be unlocked in the later stages and themed parts will be unlocked once players finish missions for certain factions like Balam and Arquebus.

The next means of unlocking more parts in Armored Core 6 is through Loghunts. In some missions, players may encounter enemies marked by a Combat Log icon on the top left of the lock-on reticule when engaged in combat. The first of such enemies appears in the "Destroy the Transport Helicopters" mission — the BAWS Tetrapod that Walter tells players to ignore. Gather enough logs to rise up the Hunter Ranks and unlock new parts that can only be obtained from Loghunts.

Lastly, players can get more parts by completing the tutorial missions. These are simple introductions to the basics of combat as well as the mechanics behind unique mech archetypes and weapons. They take no more than a few minutes to complete, and the parts they reward are all very effective for certain builds and situations early in the game.

Considering how Loghunts are tied to story progression and how tutorial missions are limited, the players' best bet to earn more parts is via main campaign missions. Those who find themselves stuck in a difficult encounter will have to experiment with what they have and adapt their strategies as best they can.

Parts unlocked from missions must be purchased from the Parts Shop. The ones obtained from tutorial missions and Loghunt are free, however, and they can be fitted into mechs as soon as they are acquired.

Armored Core 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
