Armie Hammer's estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers addresses leaked message allegations
Armie Hammer's estranged wife has appeared to address the controversy surrounding the actor, who dropped out of a film after explicit messages he allegedly sent to women were leaked online.
TV personality Elizabeth Chambers married the star in 2010 and the pair have two children, but announced their separation in July 2020.
In January, Hammer, 34, began trending on Twitter after allegations were made on social media. He had previously denied claims in a statement that appeared in The New York Times, Deadline and Variety.
Best known for films including Call Me By Your Name and The Social Network, the actor dropped out of the upcoming action comedy Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez, and in the statement described the claims as "vicious and spurious online attacks".
On Monday, Chambers, 38, appeared to address the allegations in a message on Instagram, posted alongside an image of a beach.
"For weeks, I've been trying to process everything that has transpired," she wrote. "I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening, and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters. I didn't realize how much I didn't know.
"I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal."
The TV personality went on to say that she would not be commenting further and that her "sole focus and attention will continue to be on our children, on my work and on healing during this incredibly difficult time".
She finished by saying: "Thank you for all of the love and support, and thank you in advance for your continued kindness, respect, and consideration for our children and me as we find ways to move forward."
Stars including Selma Blair and Busy Philipps were among more than 30,000 people who responded to the post with likes or comments, with Blair saying: "Thinking of you."
Hammer played the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network opposite Justin Timberlake and Jesse Eisenberg, and starred alongside Timothee Chalamet in acclaimed drama Call Me By Your Name.
Most recently he starred in a Netflix adaptation of Rebecca with British actress Lily James.
Sky News has contacted representatives for Hammer for comment.
