Tokyo Olympics Live: Dame Valerie Adams gets fourth Olympic medal with bronze
Saturday ended with the perfect 10 – in terms of New Zealand medals won at these Olympic Games – and the country’s 50th gold when the Black Ferns Sevens stood atop the podium.
Dame Valerie Adams – who already has two golds and silver in her glittering collection – added a bronze after finishing third in the women’s shot put final.
Much of New Zealand’s focus is at the track and field where high jumper Hamish Kerr leaps for a medal in the evening.
On the water, Finn world champion Josh Junior sits fourth overall going into the medal race. Peter Burling and Blair Tuke enter their 49er decider with a four-point lead and a real chance to defend their gold medal from Rio 2016.
Rio bronze medallist Sam Meech however, was unable to repeat the trick in Tokyo, finishing 10th in the medal race and 10th overall in the Laser class.
