⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ R211A St. Patrick's Day Special National Guard "Troop Train" (2024)

To move the New York National Guard\'s Band from the Upper East Side to the East Village following the conclusion of the St. Patrick\'s day parade, a special \"Troop Train\" was operated along the Q line from 86th St to 23rd St. This year, the service was provided by a brand-new R211A! This is quite interesting since the R211A does not normally run on the Q. The train then returned to Pitkin Yard via the D and A lines. The MTA is widely considered to have one of the most robust and impressive special-events operations in the transit industry and serves as an example of industry best-practice in this regard.
