8 days left to register to vote in November election
In order to vote in the Nov. 7 general election, Texans must register to vote by Oct. 10. Eligible voters must register at least 30 days before election day, according to the Texas Secretary of State.
What you need to know
New voters can download a voter registration application, which must be printed, signed and mailed to their county’s election office. Texans can also request an application be mailed to them or contact their local voter registrar for more information.
Voters must be United States citizens and reside in the county where they submit their application, according to the secretary of state’s office. Texans who are at least 17 years and 10 months old can register to vote, as long as they will be 18 years old by election day.
Convicted felons are not eligible to vote, although Texans who have completed their sentence, probation and parole may become eligible.

Dates to know
- Oct. 27: Last day to apply to vote by mail
- Oct. 23: Early in-person voting begins
- Nov. 3: Early in-person voting ends
- Nov. 7: Election Day
What’s on the ballot?
Each Texas voter will find 14 propositions to amend the state constitution on their ballot. The proposed constitutional amendments stem from bills passed during this year’s regular legislative session and a special session.
In some communities, local bond propositions and city council elections will also appear on voters’ ballots.
