Carnival Gala Night to celebrate spring lantern festival

The Chinese New Year Lantern Carnival Gala Night, which will feature an array of exceptional performances and activities, is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (Feb 12) night. The event aims to celebrate the Spring Lantern Festival with the public.
The HKCC piazza is now beautifully illuminated with vibrant lanterns, creating a cheerful atmosphere. Among the displays are lanterns shaped like animals, featuring charming designs of pandas, peacocks, meerkats, and squirrels.
One of the standout attractions is a stunning six-meter-tall palace lantern, beautifully decorated with peonies and magpies and surrounded by sky lanterns, carp fish, and lotus flower lanterns. These enchanting lanterns will be lit up from 6 pm to 11 pm, and attendees can enjoy popular lantern riddles throughout the evening.
Another highlight of the Gala is the performance by the Guizhou Performance and Arts Group, which will demonstrate the rich diversity of Guizhou's cultural heritage and traditions.
There will be ethnic songs and dances of the Miao, Bouyei and Dong ethnic groups, as well as acrobatic performances and more.
Moreover, a "Diverse Guizhou" intangible cultural heritage market will showcase a variety of handicrafts, silver jewelry, and wax dyeing products that highlight the region's rich traditions. Additionally, a "Secret Views of Guizhou" photo exhibition will present captivating glimpses into the humanistic and ecological aspects of Guizhou.
Other activities included a cappella and break dance performances by local groups.
The Gala will be held from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Members of the public are invited to join for free.
